December 2022 Observations
Welcome to Experimental Observations, a recurring monthly blog series in which the good scientists and experimentologists of GoatVision Labs give the general public a peak behind the chemical safety curtain for a look at their current experiments . . .
December is an appropriate time for this first installment of Experimental Observations. 2022 may have given the impression of a quiet year for the Lab, but we’ve all been hard at work putting pieces in place for a noisy 2023. Now that the year is coming to a close and the groundwork has been laid, we’re ready to tease some of our upcoming projects:
GoatVision Labs will be expanding our activity as a small tape label, with plans for at least five different releases and the possibility of several more. We’ve upgraded our equipment substantially and are streamlining our process. In addition to plans with some of our core collaborators, we have also been in talks with artists from beyond the Lab. Check here for our current catalogue, and keep your eyes on this space for news about upcoming releases.
The Goat Wizard is very close to having some big news . . . Expect more information later this month, and take this time to refresh your ears with their most recent songs from our Blip / Blap Vol. 1: The 2020 Collection cassette compilation! Additionally, the band has recently resumed live performances for the first time since 2019.
moth_OS is nearing completion on their followup EP to 2021’s mothware. Stay tuned for more information about this, as well as the strong likelyhood of a limited physical release from the band sometime in 2023.
Luis has had a busy year planning and participating in his very own wedding (congrats!), but has also been laying the groundwork for a followup to 2020’s LOU. as well as working hard on some video editing for GoatVision Labs. Check out our 2021 merch commercial for a taste of his work!
Alex has completed primary recording for an album of his own, which Will is helping to produce. Look out for this project in 2023, and prepare by listening to the early version of his track Anchorless, Rudderless which appeared on Blip / Blap Vol. 1.
Will is working hard overseeing the planning process for the upcoming cassette tapes GoatVision Labs plans to release in 2023. This has involved quite a bit of graphic design / layout work, as well as planning for materials and equipment. You can hear him represented musically by his work on the aforementioned upcoming moth_OS and Goat Wizard projects.
Greyson has been involved with many of the projects already mentioned here, but has also been working on several other recordings as well as continuing to hone his skills on keyboard and guitar. Greyson has plans both for the second half of his Keeping Time project, and other non-KT Greyson JS music.
This is not by any means the extent of the expriments currently taking place within the Laboratory’s blowout-panelled walls, but rather the highlights from a year of preparation. Watch this space in 2023; updates will be regular, and new releases will not be uncommon.
